Pooky the Cornhusker

Photo taken: Late July, 1997

Normally, we grow some corn and give most of it to the horses. This year we planted a sweet variety and it did well, so I ate a significant amount of it. I husked the corn on the deck and Pooky could not wait to get to the husks. As the corn went passed its prime, I would give several ears at a time to the horses, but Pooky would try to steal the corn from the horses. The horses did not have a nice day when Pooky took their corn. They would lunge at Pooky with their front feet. Yikes!

Pooky got smart and started harvesting corn by himself. Every day for a couple of weeks, we would have a yard full of corn cobs and husks.

Also notice Pooky's ear. Lesley calls him Napoleon when he looks like this.
